  consider also the research of dr. masaru emoto in which he conclusively proves that our thoughts and emotions do have a direct influence upon matter.

  he stood up for himself admirably.

  she left him alone - but she's back at it again like a bad dream that just won't quit !

  He has "new age ideas"? There are plenty of JWs who are huge on the holistic healings that I have run across. "Is he joining a cult?" God, I almost laughed my laptop off my lap on that one. What kind of clutish thinking is she worried about? We are right and everyone else is wrong and doomed to die? Or, we are God's channel for truth. Or, nevermind planning for your future sucess. The end is coming really soon. Uh, yeah, like in a few years. Blah, blah, blah, what total noise.

  At the point she called him demonic I would have tuned out too. Granted, it's a little hippish, new age-y for my blood, but I love to see the beauty in the world. Who can fault him for wanting to do that?

  What a looney. Fortunately you raised a man who can think for himself even under the onslaught of an authority figure like his own mother.

  keeping a straight face during the song is hard enough given the wacky lyrical content; the last thing i need is the "new sister" standing right behind me and loudly delivering a breathy, lispy, over-dramatic rendition of "stay asleep stand firm grow culty".

  or how about that one guy every hall has who bawls the songs out, painfully out of tune, way louder than anyone else.

  As a pre-teen JW I had a friend whose mom would practice singing the songs the day before the meeting. I recall her having less talent and more treacle coated melody. I guess she could hold a note pretty well. I hit the puberty and sounded like a sick bullfrog. I hated singing those songs.

  it was about phillip (season 5) an alcholic.

  I just watched an episode of A&E's Intervention. It was about Phillip (Season 5) an alcholic. http://www.aetv.com/intervention/int_episode_guide.jsp

  Anyway, during the episode he is at his sister's house and they are discussing how no one should take him to get liquor. Around that time, you can see the refrigerator with a Memorial invite stuck to it among other things. I definitely could tell it was the 2008(?) invite since it was the face of jesus close-up, looking down. I'm sure there was a thread with it in it around that time. There were no other obvious signs of JWs in that ep. From what I could tell, Phillip did not appear to be a JW. He had some Roman Catholic looking pictures of Christ on his wall and his girlfriend wore a cross. Perhaps only his sister has a connection to the Witnesses.

  Anyway, Phillip did get the help he needed. I hope the guy stays sober. His daughter loves him and needs a sober dad.

  hey jam, I'm right there with you. think if the converse were true too: Let's say I'm single after "this old world" fizzles off into ephemera. let's also say there are some world-class hotties being resurrected with whom I fall engorgedly in love. would it be a deviation if I were to hit that?   the "classes" described here are not typically described as such in WTS literature. however they do exist. I can't quote reference like some here, but in my youth I recall the description of the resurrected as being like angels neither marrying nor being given in marriage. this was quoting Jesus' words related to questions around a man who was married several times.
  
  so the WTS taught (and local elders) that those who are resurrected would be celibate eternally. not very fun in my opinion.
  
  this all underscores the WTS history of having an answer for everything -- even the time of the end -- despite scriptural counsel to the contrary .
  
  what is really wrong with saying "we just don't know"?
